CEF Supports S.T.E.A.M. in CUSD

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points to guiding student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. 

Compton USD schools participate in FIRST LEGO and VEX Robotics competitions. 

CUSD FIRST LEGO League teams include: FIRST LEGO Junior (grades K-4) at 7 schools, FIRST LEGO League (grades 4-8) at 20 schools, and FIRST Tech Challenge (grades 9-12) at 3 high schools.

The VEX Robotics competitions for the elementary and secondary level take place every year with new challenges to accomplish. A total of 9 elementary schools compete in VEX IQ competitions and 9 secondary schools compete on VEX EDR competitions.

 Compton Unified School District combines several events including GATE Workshops, Science Fair and the School Technology Showcase contest into one annual celebration: STEAMFest. This community event brings the world of STEAM education to life for thousands of students, parents, educators and community members as they discover the exciting career pathways, projects and special programs offered by Compton USD. 

From violin instruction that develops orchestra programs to cutting-edge music tech programs , Compton students have the opportunity to express themselves musically through a variety of classes and enrichment activities.
